A charming British travel flask dating to circa 1930, featuring a glass body enclosed within a tightly woven natural rattan … Read more A charming British travel flask dating to circa 1930, featuring a glass body enclosed within a tightly woven natural rattan and wicker basketweave covering. Designed as a substantial travel flask, the piece would traditionally have formed part of a period picnic hamper. The protective woven exterior provides wonderful texture and character, while the glass vessel is finished with a contrasting pewter cap. The flask survives in good vintage condition, displaying wear appropriate to its age. A single small section of the weave is missing to the reverse, without significantly affecting the overall appearance, while the cap continues to open and close correctly. A wonderfully evocative example of interwar British travelware, equally appealing as a collectible object or as a decorative accessory for a bar, library or country-house interior.
