Five beautiful old French boudoir shades, rescued from a Paris apartment, still wearing their original raspberry red silk and wonderfully extravagant gold trim. Just imagine the soft, rosy light they cast a hundred years ago. Perhaps beside a dressing table covered in perfume bottles and powder puffs, or lighting a rather glamorous little Parisian salon.

The silk is finely pleated, with generous bands of old gold chenille and metallic thread trimming the top and bottom. There’s something so special about the workmanship, all those tiny folds and carefully applied trimmings, made at a time when even the smallest household details were given so much attention.

They’re not perfect, in fact, the metal is a bit rusted, but they’re perfectly wonderful. A little faded, a little worn, and full of the character that only a century of living can give them.

CONDITION:
Beautifully aged antique condition with wear consistent with approximately 100 years of use and storage. The silk shows some fading, small marks, and areas of wear. The original chenille and metallic trims have mellowed with age, with some fraying and loose threads. Interior frames show age and wear. Please examine photographs closely. Sold as a set of five.
