Carlo and his brother, Giovanni, came from a historic family of glass producers and after studying law, decided to return to the family business and crate their own lines of elegant glass while modernizing designs and processes. The company lead the shift of Venetian styles from traditional to clean lines, minimalist geometry, cylinders, spheres and bold color. The 1960s was the time when these wine glasses as well as other cased glass stemware, tumblers and cordial sets in opaque but bright exteriors were cased over clean, start white glass interiors. It was the techniques used in these pieces - the layering of contrasting glass jackets to create uniform, saturated pop-art, almost lacquered effect to glass that became the hallmark of Carlo Moretti glass. In the 1970s, the pair also revived and rediscovered some lost techniques, bringing high clarity and purity to mouth-blown glass pieces. The company continued to produce both tableware and decorative pieces beyond Carlo's death in 2008 until 2013, when Giovanni sold the company to a Venetian holding company that still maintains a showroom today. These elegant hand blown glasses measure 9" tall and are 3 1/4" in diameter across the top. A brightly colored set for a fun place setting or to impart a happy note while serving cocktails! See less
