Vintage matched pair of Sam Moore wingback armchairs in a French Provincial style. These substantial high-back chairs feature curving winged sides, cabriole legs, scalloped aprons, and an off-white painted wood frame with subtle gold-toned detailing.
The upholstery is a woven floral tapestry in warm shades of gold, olive, tan, and cream, and continues across the sides and backs for a finished look from every angle. The fabric is immaculate, with no stains, rips, or repairs noted - just a few very minor signs of being vintage items. Each chair has a removable seat cushion and they’re quite comfortable. The existing upholstery is exceptionally well preserved, though of course these would also be excellent candidates for reupholstery if a buyer wants a different look.
A great fit for Grandmillennial, French Country, Traditional, Hollywood Regency, or maximalist interiors.
Both chairs are sturdy and present very well, with light age-appropriate wear to the painted finish. A small visible seam at the arm is part of the original joinery/construction, and corresponding seams are present on both chairs — not cracks or breaks. This set is very sturdy and in excellent shape for its vintage. Super comfortable and solid yet easy to move when rearranging or cleaning.
Approximate dimensions per chair: 49” H × 25” W × 24” D, with a seat height of about 20”.
