This wonderfully coordinated group of 14 vintage Christmas ornaments captures all the sparkle, color and playful design of the mid-century holiday season.

The collection includes nine clear molded plastic botanical ornaments, attributable to Jewelbrite.* along with five wonderfully whimsical molded plastic bird ornaments.

Six clear ornaments feature faceted, jewel-like forms filled with miniature botanical arrangements of poinsettias, holly, berries, flowers and evergreen foliage, with reflective metallic starburst details on the reverse. Two elongated, tapered ornaments showcase red poinsettias and greenery within striking atomic-style forms, while a round clear ornament contains an evergreen arrangement.

Completing the collection are five, mid-century molded plastic bird ornaments, approximately 5–6 inches long, with metallic silver bodies, textured red wings, gold-tone beaks and wonderfully long, delicate filament tails. Similar surviving examples date to the mid-century period, although these birds are unmarked and their maker and country of origin are unknown.

Four of the birds retain their small metal hanging loops. The fifth has lost its loop, but perhaps has found an even better place in the flock—it can be charmingly perched directly among the branches of a Christmas tree or holiday arrangement.

Displayed together, the collection has wonderful visual impact: sparkling clear forms, metallic silver and gold, vivid Christmas red and botanical green. Fabulous on a vintage-inspired tree and equally fun mixed into a modern holiday interior.

*Jewelbrite became known during the mid-20th century for colorful molded plastic Christmas ornaments designed as miniature holiday dioramas, with flowers, greenery and other decorative elements enclosed within clear jewel-like forms. The distinctive faceted construction, botanical interiors and reflective backs of several ornaments in this collection match documented vintage Jewelbrite examples from the period. See less
