Offered for sale is an authentic pair of Vladimir Kagan single-sheet molded Lucite barrel chairs, originally designed and manufactured during the late 1960s to early 1970s. These space-age chairs were highly futuristic for their time and are still highly sought after to be included in today's modern design settings. This design is famous for its visual illusion of a levitating or floating visual effect where the seat is completely suspended inside a single, continuous sheet of thick, heat-bent acrylic. The chair has an almost weightless appearance with its soft lines and flared arms.

The authentic side connectors are the telling feature of this model, which is how the seat is mounted. It relies on horizontal chromed steel cylindrical grommet connectors passing directly through the sides of the Lucite shell to hold the internal seat framework stable. The seat is newly upholstered in an elegant woven fabric.

The chairs are no longer retain their original labels beneath the seats as they have been reupholstered but are documented as original by the form and the seat suspension with the original chrome hardware as shown. They are guarented to be oritiginal MCM period chairs by Vladimir Kagan.

Reupholstered. in good vintage condition with newly upholstered seat cushions, the acrylic is in good clear condition, and there are wear marks on one of the original seat support chrome end caps as shown. See less
