A fine antique Jean Pouyat Limoges porcelain bottle vase, marked J.P. with impressed shape number 501. This elegant French vase features a richly glazed cobalt blue ground decorated with hand-applied gilt foliage in the Japonisme taste. The form is distinguished by a sculptural naturalistic branch handle that gracefully connects the shoulder to the elongated neck.
The combination of deep cobalt blue, luminous gilding, and organic branch motif exemplifies the luxury decorative porcelain produced in Limoges during the late 19th century. Decorative from every angle, this piece displays beautifully as a standalone accent or within a collection of fine French porcelain.
