The hand painted decoration incorporates bold, swirling central designs surrounded by stylized floral and foliage motifs, with dense geometric ornamentation along the border that is characteristic of Japanese sometsuke. This tradition of painting with cobalt pigment under a transparent glaze is associated with the Arita and Imari ceramic producing regions. They are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. See less
