The rich vermilion-red lacquer provides a vibrant backdrop for the intricate hand-painted designs and textured embellishments, accented with iridescent mother-of-pearl (raden) inlays. The exquisite composition depicts a crane hovering over a flowering plum tree among pine forest in the rays of the rising sun, symbolizing longevity, renewal, and good fortune. The combination of fine gold-toned detailing, sculptural relief, and mother-of-pearl creates a beautiful interplay of texture, color, and dimension. The solid wood box features a removable lid, two spacious stacked compartments finished in red lacquer, and a contrasting black lacquered underside. This finely crafted piece is both a functional keepsake box and an elegant example of traditional Japanese decorative artistry. See less
