Deep ridges radiate outward from a small, spiral-carved hinge, or umbo, at one side, fanning across the interior in graceful, sweeping channels. The outer edge rolls and ripples in broad, soft scallops that rise and fall like a wave, giving the rim a lively, undulating silhouette. The interior is smoothly gouged and softly rounded, while the underside follows the same flowing contours. The wood glows in warm honey, caramel, and amber, with pale, rubbed highlights along the crests where the finish has softened and deeper tones settling in the hollows. Visible grain, small natural knots, and faint tool marks confirm the hand-carved process. The finish is satiny and mellow, with a gentle, aged patina that enhances the depth of the carving. The generous, shallow form feels both ceremonial and relaxed, an organic centerpiece that works as sculpture first and vessel second.
