japanese ceramic toban dating from around 1970, designed as a square decorative panel with an abstract glaze composition, characteristic of japanese studio pottery from the late shōwa period.
the surface combines a warm off-white glaze with deep green and almost black flowing glazes. The natural glaze movements, subtle colour variations and pronounced crackle effect give the piece an organic, almost landscape-like character.
the understated composition and rich texture reflect the japanese wabi-sabi aesthetic. A distinctive ceramic artwork that can be displayed as wall art or on a stand, complementing minimalist and contemporary interiors.
vintage condition with pronounced glaze crazing, areas of wear and visible cracking, including on the reverse.
