Its most recognisable feature is the wide, flared lampshade made of dark fabric stretched over a chrome-plated frame. Metal rings surrounding the fabric, together with textile fastenings, create a distinctive detail that sets this model apart from conventional lampshades.

The shade is supported by a slim chrome-plated stem with a round base. The well-balanced proportions and contrast between shiny metal and matte fabric give the lamp an elegant, slightly technical appearance.

The lamp works beautifully in vintage, modernist and eclectic interiors. It would make an interesting addition to a living room with a low sofa, a geometrically shaped armchair, dark wood or chrome accessories. It can also add character to a minimalist interior as a distinctive focal point.

The lampshade fabric has a subtly uneven colour, reminiscent of faded vintage canvas or denim. This gives the material an individual character and adds to its vintage appeal. The chrome-plated structure is in excellent condition, and the metal elements reflect light beautifully. The lamp is heavy and solidly constructed.

The Anna series was designed for different applications and included table, floor, wall and pendant lamps. The individual versions varied in their construction and details, while sharing the characteristic fabric shade.

The design is attributed to Anna Ehrner, a Swedish designer born in 1948. She designed lamps for Ateljé Lyktan while still studying and later became particularly well known for her work with the Swedish glass manufacturer Kosta Boda, for which she began creating functional and decorative glassware in 1974. The Anna lamp showcases another side of her design practice, reflecting her interest in materials, construction and the relationship between functionality and aesthetics.

The manufacturer, Ateljé Lyktan, is a Swedish lighting company founded in 1934 by designer Hans Bergström and Verna Norell. from the beginning, the company has combined craftsmanship with a modern approach to lighting design. Its history forms an important part of the Swedish design tradition, and its catalogue includes pieces that have become design classics, such as the Bumling lamp by Anders Pehrson. Ateljé Lyktan continues to operate today, with its designs appreciated for their quality, thoughtful construction and distinctive yet understated style.
