This antique bench from Italy has a restrained architectural form, balanced by richly sculptural details, creating a piece that feels both sophisticated and decorative. The long, open framework is characterized by clean horizontal lines and graceful curves, allowing the bench to be appreciated from every angle and making it particularly well suited to floating within a room rather than being confined against a wall. The elongated back rail stretches uninterrupted across the length of the bench, supported by a series of elegantly curved rear splats that provide rhythmic movement and visual lightness. The open arms sweep outward in subtle saber-like curves, supporting the clean/linear armrests. Striking decorative elements are the finely carved and gilded lion-head terminals adorning the front arm supports.
