This is a monumental, solid-cast brass 7-branch synagogue/temple menorah, standing an impressive 21.5 inches tall and weighing 8 lbs 8.5 oz. Featuring elaborate, ornate openwork scrolling arms (foliate/scrollwork tendrils) branching symmetrically from a central baluster shaft, this piece reflects traditional Eastern European (Polish/Galician) metalworking styles of the 19th century.
Construction Details: Constructed in multiple solid-cast brass sections joined via an internal heavy-gauge threaded steel core rod that passes directly through the baluster column and threads into the heavy dome base.
Details & Finish: Features candle cups with integral drip pans atop stylized scrolling arms. The brass exhibits a deep, untouched natural olive-gold patina with original surface oxidation and verdigris in recesses.
Design Significance & Provenance: This monumental 19th-century 7-branch brass menorah represents the grand tradition of mid-19th-century Eastern European metalsmithing (c. 1850–1880). Modeled after the classical Temple menorah motif, its sweeping scrollwork arms and multi-tiered baluster column reflect strong Historicist and Revivalist influences that bridged 19th-century European metalwork with Jewish ceremonial design.
Curator’s Note: With its impressive 21.5-inch vertical scale, rich unpolished olive patina, and dramatic openwork scroll arms, this piece offers exceptional visual presence for interior design projects. Perfect as a centerpiece on a sideboard, grand entryway console, or mantle, it adds authentic architectural weight and historical depth to modern, transitional, or eclectically styled spaces.
