This vintage candle holder is a study in simple geometry, with a tall, smooth cone of mercury-style silvered glass rising from a broad, stable foot. The body is hand-blown, and its mirrored interior finish ranges from bright pewter to warm champagne gold near the base, with darker, smoky tones gathering toward the shoulder. The silvering is softly mottled, with clouded patches, tiny pinpoint flecks, and faint streaks that give the surface the depth of an antique looking glass. A few small air bubbles are trapped in the glass, a mark of hand-blown work. At the top of the cone, a clear glass collar spreads into a flat, disc-like drip plate. Above it sits a small, cylindrical candle cup with a gently flared lip, in transparent glass with a faint green-gray tint. The contrast between the reflective, metallic cone and the clear glass cup gives the piece a subtle two-part character. Light plays across the curved surface in shifting highlights, and the form feels both architectural and softly aged. The unadorned silhouette lets the finish do the decorative work.
