A newly refinished nine-drawer walnut lowboy chest of drawers designed by Barney Flagg for Drexel’s “Parallel” collection, produced in North Carolina in 1962.
The design is defined by highly distinctive pulls sculpted directly into the face of the drawers, providing visual texture that makes the “Parallel” case pieces instantly recognizable. Flame-like walnut grain repeats horizontally across the front, while the drawer faces are cut for continuous grain from top to bottom..
The slender legs taper toward the floor, lending visual lightness to what is otherwise a substantial case.
Expertly refinished with few traces of prior use. All drawers glide smoothly.
