This is a set of 3 original 1902 antique botanicals of French drawings. They came from a French portfolio of 4 volumes of "Encyclopedie de la Plante", an “artistique” and “documentaire” collection of Beaux-Arts prints. This collection was showcased as aritstic illustrations with documentary precision and detail. The images note the anatomical and natural study of the plant. They were created for educational and artistic reference and research. These images feature the popular carnation, ivy, and Sweet William plants. The drawings are rich in detailed, intricate designs with a Beaux-Arts aesthetic. Note the intricacies of the leaves, stems, buds, and blossoms. Note too the graphic styling of the image. They are done in light and dark gray neutral tones. Excellent, clean, pristine condition. 11.75x 15.25 inches. See other botanical drawings offered in our collection. See less
