Inspired by traditional Japanese shishi guardian lions, these decorative sculptures reflect the rich artistic heritage and symbolism associated with Japanese ceramics in the Meiji period. Traditionally representing protection, strength, and good fortune, guardian lions have long been displayed in pairs at entrances and within homes. Their expressive forms and sculptural presence make them beautiful decorative accents for a console, bookshelf, mantel, or entryway. Perfect for Asian-inspired, Chinoiserie, Hollywood Regency, Grandmillennial, and eclectic interiors, these charming figures bring a wonderful combination of cultural tradition, character, and old-world appeal. A distinctive pair of Japanese decorative ceramics that will appeal to collectors of Kutani ware and Asian art.
