This pair of Imperial Jingdezhen porcelain collector plates feature the vibrantly colored art of master artist Zhao Huimin. These striking plates are from the Beauties of the Red Mansion series, depicting characters from The Dream of Red Mansions written between 1755 and 1790 by Tsao Hsueh-Chin. This work was a satire of imperial feudal favoritism, revealing an insider’s contemporary portrait of access, privilege, power and corruption among China’s feudal ruling classes. The first two plates in the series are included:
#1 "Pao-Chi" - 1985
#2 “Yuan-Chun” - 1986
