This antique table from Spain was originally conceived as a traveling or portable table, with a design emphasizing functionality and durability. The trestle form allowed for easier transport while maintaining the stability necessary for daily use. It features a rectangular plank board top in a handsome dark walnut-toned finish with a wonderfully timeworn surface, and decorative hand-forged iron strapwork mounted along the sides at each corner. The table is raised on a pair of trestle saw-horse style legs joined by a gracefully curved, forged wrought iron stretcher that intersects beneath the tabletop, creating an attractive pattern and visual appeal, while providing additional structural stability. Measuring just over four feet in length, this table offers a highly versatile scale that works effortlessly in a variety of interior settings. This 19th century Spanish traveling table, with the combination of wood and forged iron, gives the table a refined rusticity that feels both timeless and sophisticated. See less
