Its form and craftsmanship suggest it is a European optical instrument from the late 19th or early 20th century, likely intended for experiments and demonstrations in the field of optics and the concentration of light.

The lens is very thick and strongly convex. The mount features a mechanism that allows for adjustment of its position. The entire assembly is mounted on a distinctive, heavy three-legged base made of cast iron. The original patina of the metal components and traces of the former black coating have also been preserved.

The lens is 4 cm thick.

Condition:
