This sledge, often referred to as a bobsleigh, features two continuous yet flexible runners that can be steered via a kind of swivel mechanism. Each runner is fitted with a ‘rake’ acting as a brake, which can be operated via two pedals at the front. Of these the left-hand brake bar is broken.
It features a metal steering mechanism on the underside of the solid oak slatted seat, which is bolted in place, with iron fittings and a steering wheel.

Models of this type were also used at the 1936 Olympic Games, as well as at national championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
