A tall and elegant crested mirror featuring unusual shaped mirror panels within egg and dart mouldings and pearl beading surrounding the main arched plate. An airy Rococo cast and hand modeled plaster crest sits at the top and sculptural acanthus returns set off the bottom corners. Lovely bright gilding contrasts with neutral toned polished gesso in the otherwise gilded crest as well as in the egg and dart moulding. Good antique condition with typical artisanal irregularities and signs of age: attractive antique patina to the gilding with some rubbing and speckling. Original mirror plate also shows some signs of age, with some speckling throughout. Retains original back boards. Ca. late 19th century.
