Dense black linework builds the figure and surrounding interior, while a lighter passage at the left reveals a distant scene. The contrast between the open space and tightly worked areas gives the composition its striking graphic character.

Intersecting lines run through the walls, floor, and figure, linking each part of the image through a shared rhythm. Repeated diagonal marks create an almost lattice-like background, while the floor’s receding grid establishes depth. The figure stands toward the right side, its dark silhouette balanced by the pale opening on the left. The scene has an atmospheric, theatrical quality that rewards close viewing.

A printed statement attached to the back identifies the work as an original lithograph by Carzou, specially created and printed for a publication. The artwork is presented within a broad cream-colored mat, a narrow gold-tone inner border, and a slim dark outer frame.

Measuring 16.25 inches wide by 20.25 inches high, the framed piece offers a compact vertical format for a study, reading corner, or gallery wall. Its restrained palette and expressive drawing suit Mid-Century Modern interiors, as well as rooms combining traditional furniture with modern art.
