Each section of … Read more Late 18th century piece of furniture called a “cartonnier” in wood veneer and used for storing papers. Each section of the piece features a frame of gilt bronze, fluted stripes. Its upper part has two small drawers placed under the two main doors that are decorated with masks. Inside these doors are six drawers that are decorated with painted gold foliage. In the center, a table slides out to form a shelf for writing. The lower half features the same gilded masks on the large, front doors, and on the right side, a door opens to reveal two shelves. The arched legs are capped with gilded feet embellished with foliage. Good condition with slight traces of use, circa 1780. Dim: w 25.6 in – d 15in – h 63in. Dim: l 65cm, p 38cm, h 160cm. See less
