Antique Yellowware Pineapple Pudding Mold, Probably English, 19th Century
Description:
A charming antique yellowware mold, probably English, with a finely modeled pineapple at the center of the oval bowl. A scalloped, fluted border surrounds it, and the mold sits on a short pedestal foot. The warm honey-yellow glaze has the soft crackle that comes with age, and the detail is crisp enough that the pineapple would have turned out a handsome jelly, blancmange, or pudding.
The pineapple has long symbolized hospitality, which makes it a favorite for the kitchen. Hang it on a wall, stand it on a shelf, or display it with a collection of yellowware and kitchen pottery. It would also work as a small catch-all dish.
Condition: Some glaze wear and a few fleabites or nicks consistent with age and use.
