Description:
A substantial antique brass chamberstick with a working push-up ejector, probably English, from the early to mid 19th century. A wide, shallow drip pan with a rolled rim holds a baluster-turned stem and a flared candle socket. A thumb-knob in a slot on the column raises the candle as it burns down and pushes out the wax stub. A scrolled handle with a flat thumb rest and a small slotted lug sits beside the pan, and the handle is secured with copper rivets.

Chambersticks like this carried a candle to the bedroom before electricity, and they remain useful and decorative. The warm, softly worn patina has not been over-polished, and it looks wonderful on a nightstand, mantel, or desk.

Condition: Use and wear marks consistent with age, including dents and dings from age and use.
