A wonderful vintage Italian ceramic serving platter featuring an exuberant arrangement of sculpted garden vegetables in high relief.
This generously proportioned oval platter is adorned with beautifully modeled tomatoes, corn, carrots, celery, zucchini, and leafy vegetables, all hand-painted in a vibrant yet sophisticated palette of green, rose, ochre, and aubergine.
The glossy glaze accentuates the dimensional modeling, while the softly scalloped outline adds an organic quality to the composition.
Evoking the charm of traditional Italian majolica and European country-house entertaining, this piece is equally appealing as functional tableware or as a decorative centerpiece displayed on a sideboard, kitchen dresser, or dining table.
Marked “Made in Italy” on the underside. Maker unidentified.
