This exceptional 19th-century Spanish textile art piece serves as a memorial tribute or token of remembrance (En memoria de...). The center features an oval shadowbox-style display composed of masterfully worked silk embroidery, metallic gold bullion coils, and raised thread-work. A bouquet of dimensional, sculptural textile flowers—including a centrally raised rose, a lily, and a pansy—grows from a dynamic, ombré sky-blue to cream silk satin background.
An embroidered silk banner cascades across the bottom, featuring a Spanish calligraphic dedication reading: "Asunción Rosal, En memoria de su tio Juan Camprodón." (Asunción Rosal, In memory of her uncle Juan Camprodón). The central oval is framed by heavily braided goldwork borders, corner floral details, and hand-applied green gemstone accents. The entire piece is housed in a large, deep-profile antique Victorian giltwood shadowbox frame decorated with deep-relief scrolling acanthus leaf designs.

The metallic gold bullion threads display a rich, authentic aged patina and slight darkening typical of real metal threads over time. The large giltwood outer frame is structurally sound, though it shows minor edge scuffs, thin hairline stability cracks through the molded plaster details, and small spots of gilding loss consistent with an authentic 19th-century piece. less
