Original color lithograph by renowned Italian artist Valerio Adami (born 1935), created in 1976 for the “Moments Musicaux de Six à Huit” concert series at the Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, France.
This striking composition is immediately recognizable as Adami’s distinctive graphic language, combining broad areas of vivid yellow, green and magenta with strong black outlines forming a highly stylized musician and string instrument.
Integrated directly into the composition are the names of five major modern composers: Berg – Webern – Debussy – Ravel – Schoenberg.
The image was created for the “Moments Musicaux de Six à Huit” organized at the Fondation Maeght in 1976.
Specialist print references document this composition as an original lithograph and poster-before-letter associated with the Fondation Maeght, published by Maeght and signed examples are known. Estampes Champetier
This example is especially desirable because it is hand-signed “ADAMI” in pencil by the artist at the lower right, rather than merely carrying a printed signature within the image.
The work remains visually strong, with bright, saturated colors and broad margins. There are light areas of foxing along the lower margin, together with minor age-related paper toning and handling traces. These imperfections remain outside the principal printed composition and are clearly visible in the photographs.
Please refer carefully to the detailed images for condition.
A strong and collectible example of 1970s European graphic art, bringing together Valerio Adami’s unmistakable figurative style, the cultural history of the Fondation Maeght and the world of 20th-century classical music.
