Giacometti grew up on a Swiss farm close to the Italian border. He later moved to Paris and became known for his sculptural furniture that included extensive work inspired by the animals kingdom of his childhood on the farm. This lamp from the 1970s features a body of branches with two small birds perched therein. Giacometti used birds on branches in many of his designs.
