The undulating drawer fronts are separated by molded crossbanded edges, echoing the shaped contours of the case. Elaborate gilt-bronze escutcheons and scrolling Rococo-style mounts lend decorative refinement, complementing the warm tones and expressive grain of the walnut. The shaped top follows the serpentine outline of the case, above a conforming molded base terminating in round bun feet. The commode exemplifies the sophisticated craftsmanship and sculptural sensibility of German Rococo furniture of the 18th century. See less
