A charming antique bentwood spice box containing seven original wooden spice containers fashioned in the form of miniature barrels. The round bentwood box retains its fitted lid and houses a complete set of turned wood spice jars with original printed labels on the lids.
The containers are labeled Nutmegs, Mace, Ginger, Allspice, Cloves, Cinnamon, and Mustard. The labels exhibit varying degrees of age-related wear, adding to the authentic character of this well-preserved kitchen antique. The barrel-shaped containers are an especially appealing and less commonly encountered feature.
The spice jars appear to be turned from solid wood and retain a wonderful aged patina. The set has a pleasant old wood aroma with a subtle smoky character developed over many years of use and storage.

The bentwood box remains sturdy and displays beautifully. There is a split in the top piece of wood on the lid along with some discoloration. The box also has a split near one of the original nails on the lower portion of the side wall. Both condition issues are stable and do not affect the structural integrity of the piece. The interior spice containers are in very good condition overall. Some lids fit more loosely than others, and the printed spice names range from crisp to faded with age. The set retains an attractive untouched patina throughout. less
