Fat lava is the name collectors give to the thick, crusted, flowing glazes the West German potteries ran through the 1960s and 70s, where the glaze was made to crawl and pit rather than sit flat. This one has the lava falling in heavy drips over a quiet body, which is the combination that reads well on a shelf rather than shouting from it.

Base stamped 1107/26 Germany — form 1107, and the second number is the height in centimetres, so roughly 26 cm or 10 inches tall.

Sold as a single piece. A smaller companion jug from the same find is listed separately. See less
