A small round box hand-carved from Italian alabaster, the lid set with a painted floral panel. Alabaster takes a carve and a polish like nothing else — warm rather than cold in the hand, and faintly translucent where the stone thins at the rim.
Meant for a dressing table and a few rings, or a desk and nothing in particular. Light enough to move around, heavy enough to feel like stone.
