This remarkably engineered antique English stationary cabinet doubles as a portable writing or campaign desk. The exterior features a striking mottled burl walnut veneer with an unusual double-cylinder roll top held together by an incised brass locking band.
When unlocked, the unique mechanism unrolls to unfold an exceptionally detailed workspace. The lower cylinder section drops forward to reveal a deep three-compartment well. The middle desk panel opens up like a writing slope to expose a hidden internal compartment.

The exterior burl veneer displays noticeable surface checking, hairline cracks, small chipped losses along the curved edges, and some separation at the joints. The brass hardware has a heavy, authentic oxidized patina. The interior mahogany cabinetry remains mostly intact, though there is general light finish wear, small scuffs, and age-related wear around the drawer frames. One edge of the folding interior desk panel frame has a loose wood strip that needs re-securing. less
