Originally used in textile manufacturing to hold and feed thread or yarn through mill machinery, the pieces retain the turned wood construction, broad spool ends, metal collars, and other functional details associated with early textile production. Sizes range from 6" to 10" long.

A couple of the smaller quills feature polished brass end caps, while others have aged metal fittings and broad wooden flanges. The colorful thread wrapping was added later for decorative display and is not original to the textile tools.

The varied proportions and rich mix of wood, metal, and textile make the collection particularly attractive displayed together in a basket, bowl, open shelving arrangement, sewing room, or industrial-inspired interior. Their authentic wear and patina provide plenty of character without making the group feel overly precious. See less
