Red reclining Buddha statues depict the Buddha at age 80 during his final illness, moving past physical suffering into ultimate enlightenment. This image serves as a teaching on the fleeting nature of life and the understanding that letting go of earthly attachments is an arrival at peace rather than a loss.

This sculpture has all the essential elements of a red reclining Buddha: It is in a Right-Side Reclining Posture: He lies on his right side, a position associated with auspiciousness, dignity, and calm in Indian and Buddhist traditions. His head has the necessary Head Support, resting propped up by his right hand and elbow, a posture historically likened to a resting lion (sihasaiya) representing spiritual royalty and strength.

This Red Reclining Buddha weighs a little over 10 lbs. It is 39" long, 13" tall and 4" thick. See less
