Handcrafted in Japan during the late 20th century, this piece features a sleek, high-gloss jet-black finish that beautifully contrasts with its central metallic engraving. The artwork depicts two graceful flying cranes soaring past Mount Fuji, detailed with intricate silver work and heavily gilded with genuine 24K gold framing. Twin 24K gold bands accent the flared upper rim and the base, completing its refined silhouette.
The underside features the collection's official maker mark, which shares the history of Chokin, a metal engraving technique dating back to ancient Japan when master artisans used it to decorate the armor, weapons, and helmets of Samurai warriors.
This collectible vase is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or visible crazing. The high-gloss black glaze remains exceptionally smooth and reflective, and the 24K gold and silver overlays are bright, intact, and free of heavy rubbing or oxidation. Per the traditional manufacturer stamp on the base, this piece is intended strictly for decorative accent use. It makes a sophisticated addition to a mantel, bookshelf, or curated Asian art collection.
