A low, wide bowl with a round, shallow shape, made of stoneware and covered with a multi-layered glaze in shades of brown, ochre, and gray characteristic of Danish studio ceramics.
The object’s most significant feature is the treatment of its surface and the way the glaze is applied. On the outer rim, a dark brown layer—almost black in places—is visible, transitioning into sections with rusty and ochre hues. Axella’s production included ceramics with a distinctly artisanal character, featuring natural colors, textured surfaces, and abstract decoration. Axella was active in Denmark during the second half of the 20th century; surviving pieces date from both the 1960s and 1970s.
