Between them is a wide, semicircular arch made of darker wood, its surface accentuated by three concentric notches. The juxtaposition of straight planes with the soft curve of the arch creates a distinctive, geometric composition.

The natural wood retains its visible grain pattern and a range of shades—from a light honey-brown to the deeper, walnut-toned arches. The decorative motif of a semicircular arch lends the bookends an association with a simplified architectural form, typical of mid-20th-century modernist functional objects. Similar wooden bookends with geometric and arched designs appear in vintage design catalogs, particularly in the context of Mid-Century aesthetics and modernism.

The form is subordinated to both function and structural simplicity. The pair maintains a symmetrical character, and thanks to its compact construction, it serves as a stable bookend while remaining a small decorative object with a sculptural, geometric form. See less
