The ovoid shape rises on a long, flared neck, framed by two closed, circular handles that give it the proud and sculptural bearing so characteristic of Accolay ceramics. The glaze is remarkable: a deep, volcanic aubergine brown adorns the body, while a luminous, mineral turquoise graces the neck and handles in a natural gradient. Its size makes it a remarkable collector's item.

The ceramic dates from the 1960s. It is in very good condition. The piece is signed on the base.

Accolay, this village in the Yonne region, which became a major center of French ceramics in the 1950s-1970s, produced some of the most poetic pieces of the French Mid-Century period. This vase is a fine example: authentic, expressive, and in excellent condition.
