William Westenhaver designed this iconic tiki style bench for his company Western International Trading Co (Witco) in the 1960s. His pieces were revolutionary in the world of Tiki, blending its tropical style with a modern touch. His popularity steadily grew, peaking when Elvis Presley furnished his entire Jungle Room at his estate exclusively with Witco.
This particular bench features a sculptural deeply carved wood frame (possibly cedar) with rolled arm rests. It also has a sleek and practical black vinyl seat. The bench perfectly balances retro tropical vibes with brutalist modernism. Perfect for an entryway, bedroom, or living room statement. Original label is missing, but this piece is unmistakably Witco.
The 1960s era bench is in very good vintage condition. The bench is solid, sturdy, and heavy. Some marks and wear on the vinyl seat cushion. Scattered wear on wood finish. Please see photos for more details about the condition of the bench.
