Elegant in its restraint, the piece exemplifies the transition from late Art Nouveau ornamentation toward the cleaner, geometric forms that would characterize early modern design.

The rectangular box stands on four delicate ball feet and is surmounted by a beautifully engraved lid featuring a stylized flowing floral motif. The decoration, composed of sweeping lines and organic curves, reflects the distinctive aesthetic of the German Jugendstil movement, where natural forms were translated into highly decorative yet disciplined patterns.

Opening the hinged lid reveals a finely crafted wooden interior divided into two compartments, providing practical storage for jewelry, correspondence, sewing accessories, desk items, or other treasured objects. The warm tone of the wood creates an attractive contrast with the silver-plated exterior.

The silver-plated surface has developed an authentic patina over time, enhancing the antique character of the piece and emphasizing its age and originality. Combining functionality with elegant craftsmanship, this box makes a sophisticated decorative accessory for both classic and contemporary interiors.

A charming example of early twentieth-century German decorative arts by one of the leading metalware manufacturers of the Jugendstil period.
