An elegant magazine & newspaper rack, made in France circa the 1950-60's from brass and smokey gray glass. Brass framework, shaped finials and gracefully curved legs.
Arched carrying handle completes the Neoclassical look.
There are two substantial panels of smoked gray glass. Each heavy glass panel is secured by 4 purpose made brass fittings, showing the quality construction of this magazine rack.
Nice combination of smoked glass and brass that can be labelled as Neoclassical, Italian, Mid-Century Modern or Hollywood Regency.
The design is architectural whilst very elegant. Identical examples have been documented as Italian & French. Maison Baguès or Maison Jansen; in style. No visible labels. The quality/style of the piece would indicate it was made by the latter.
