This set of four vintage Brighton Pavilion dining chairs brings Regency-era chinoiserie to life in natural rattan. Each chair features a sweeping, horseshoe-shaped back rail that curves into the arms in one fluid line. Within the frame, the back is filled with a lively composition of vertical spindles, interlocking circles, and a latticed fretwork panel that recalls Chinese Chippendale design. The sides are finished with a row of stacked arches above a band of slender spindles, adding rhythm and an airy openwork quality. Beneath the seat, horizontal rattan poles are stacked in tight, parallel layers to form a substantial, sculptural apron, while an H-shaped stretcher base lends stability. Joints are bound with tightly wrapped cane lashing, an artisanal detail that reinforces the construction and adds tactile contrast. The warm honey-blonde rattan shows a soft, consistent patina with gentle tonal variation. The original cane seats have been replaced with wood panels, providing a firm base for cushions, and small protective caps appear on the feet.
Equally at home around a breakfast table, in a sunroom, or arranged as accent seating in a bedroom or lounge, these chairs add texture and a sense of movement to any space. They complement Hollywood Regency, Chinoiserie, Boho Chic, Coastal, and Mid-Century Modern interiors. Each chair measures 22 inches wide, 17 inches deep, and 36.25 inches high, with an 18-inch seat height. Condition is very good: the rattan shows minor scuffs and light wear on the feet, and the frames are structurally sound with no visible repairs or damage. For care, dust regularly with a soft brush or vacuum attachment, wipe gently with a barely damp cloth, and keep away from prolonged direct sun and excess moisture.
