The rectangular porcelain stand has two original porcelain inkwells with matching floral-decorated lids. The stand is richly embellished with raised scrollwork, shell and leaf motifs, gilding, and a striking blue ground. The ornate form and decoration are characteristic of the Rococo Revival taste popular in France during the second half of the 19th century.

The underside is unmarked except for the hand-painted red number 4689, which may be a pattern or decorator's number.

Condition: Good antique condition. No chips or cracks. Some crazing is present in the porcelain and is visible in the photographs. There is also some age-related wear to the gilding and decoration, consistent with the age of the piece.
