Closed, it reads as a neat rectangle with a raised lip along the edges. Slide one panel out over the end of the frame and it becomes a serving extension, and a cream laminate inset with a fine grey leaf pattern appears in the centre. That gives you a wipe-clean surface for glasses and bottles.

The end frames are the strongest part of the design. Each is slightly splayed, with mitred top corners, rounded inner corners and a moulded bead running around the opening. Below the top, a square offset shelf stands on a flared central support that rises from the full-length base shelf. A shallow drawer pulls out from one end, with a carved finger pull along its top edge and a small brass stud on the front. The trolley runs on four castors.

The original red oval "Remploy" label, with gilt script, is fixed inside the drawer front. This piece has an attribution mark,
