The box is adorned with hand-carved floral rosettes arranged in circular medallions across the front and lid, complemented by geometric chip-carved borders that showcase traditional folk craftsmanship.

Constructed from solid wood with hand-forged iron mounts, hinges, and straps, the coffer retains a wonderful patina developed over centuries of use. Raised on turned feet, the piece possesses a strong architectural presence despite its compact size. The warm brown wood contrasts beautifully with the dark iron hardware, emphasizing its authentic rustic character.

Originally intended for the storage of valuables, documents, textiles, or personal possessions, this antique chest now makes an exceptional decorative object for a console, library, study, or country house interior. The interior is clean and spacious, while the exterior displays the honest wear and age-related marks expected from a piece of this period.

Presented in good antique condition with normal signs of age and use, consistent with its 18th century origin. See less
