They didn't reunite until decades later to release their debut album in 2008, followed by a very short run of shows.

The 2016 tour was their last, and they made a two night stop at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco. This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime lineup: Because Tom Petty passed away the following year in 2017, and guitarist Tom Leadon passed away in 2023, the 2016 tour stands as the final chapter for the band.

Tom Petty, Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench, Tom Leadon, and Randall Marsh in a small venue rather than massive stadiums with the Heartbreakers made it a bucket-list event for rock fans.
